One year after the assassination attempt that wounded Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, many questions about the incident remain unanswered. But a huge new question is being raised. The new documentary film "Who Shot Trump?" reveals evidence there was more than one shooter that fired at Trump last July 13 in Butler. Filmmaker J.D. Wilcox says he and his team conducted 3-D plotting along with forensic studies on the site of the shooting. "We could examine that 3-D model and look at different trajectories and lines of sight to determine where a sniper could and couldn't shoot at Trump," says Wilcox.
"During that process, we also uncovered very strong forensic evidence of at least one bullet that could not have been fired from the roof of the building where (gunman) Thomas Crooks' body ended up," he continues.
Wilcox's film is being released this weekend to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the shooting, and it comes amidst growing frustration with the lack of information about what led to the incident, which Trump survived only on sheer luck or divine intervention when the shot missed his head and grazed his ear. Writer Salena Zito outlines her theories in a new book called "Butler" which chronicles untold facts about the incident and its aftermath.
At the same time, Pennsylvania Congressman Mike Kelly (R), who represents Butler, is demanding further investigation after his select committee was stonewalled by the Biden administration during the initial probe into the shooting last year. Kelly recently told USA Today, "we never got the answers" about what happened that day.
Wilcox's film could expand that investigation even further, if his theory proves correct. "We know that there was at least one additional shooter at Butler that day, and most importantly, the FBI knows this also," he tells KTRH. "Because they did the same forensic analysis that we did, and they've known that there was a second shooter since at least August 2024."
