Governor Greg Abbott has signed more than 600 of the thousands of bills proposed by the 49th Texas Legislature, including bills to keep students from using cell phone in schools and that provide property tax relief for many residents.
Not among those that have so far been signed or even vetoed is the closely-watched Senate Bill 3, which would ban most THC-infused consumables in Texas.
Since Gov. Abbott has not signed the much-publicized bill, there is a possibility, however remote, that he could sign it by the midnight Sunday deadline for him to sign bills.
He could also veto it, which might bring some political venom from his supporters, or he could do nothing, which would mean the bill would become law at midnight.
There is another remote possibility: he could call a special session of the Legislature, meaning lawmakers could be called back to the capitol in Austin to address the bill.
