Former DA Kim Ogg Calls For Republican Takeover Of Harris County In 2026

Former Harris County D.A. Kim Ogg is back in the news with another surprise. The longtime Democrat is not only calling out her own party, she is also calling for a Republican takeover in Harris County in 2026.

"Well, she's calling for a Republican takeover of Harris County, kind of" said attorney and former Harris County GOP Chair, Jared Woodfill, "Because at the same time she's calling for the takeover, she wants Annise Parker to be the next County Judge. Last time I checked, Annise Parker was running as a Democrat."

A radical Democrat, at that.

"It looks like a politically motivated statement to promote yourself to some type of office as a Republican" Woodfill told KTRH, "Because you don't come out and say I want to turn the county red, yet in the same breath, you say but with respect to the County Judge position, I want a Democrat to win."

Republicans haven't won in Harris County for several years. So how do you go about turning it from red to blue?

"First and foremost, you need to make sure that there's a Republican running against every single Democrat" noted Woodfill, "There are a lot of things that the local party is going to have to do if we want to turn this county red."

And that includes electing a Republican County Judge, not a Democrat.
