The Texas Capitol building and surrounding grounds are back open after being shut down for much of Saturday afternoon, following threats against state politicians who were planning to speak at a Capitol rally against Donald Trump and his policies.
The "No Kings Day" rallies, which The Wall Street Journal says are organized by Planned Parenthood, the American Civil Liberties Union and the American Federation of Teachers, were held all across the US on Saturday.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), though, said midday that they had received threats against lawmakers and were warning politicians from public speaking while the office investigated threats.
There was a report that a possible shooter might be near the Capitol, so the DPS shut down the grounds as the investigation continued.
Rallies continued at other Austin locations.
The arrest of a suspect in LaGrange satisfied the DPS that they had tempered threats against the state lawmakers, and allowed the Capitol grounds to be reopened about 5 pm.
