Houston Doctor Warns Texas Needs More Robust Medical Freedom Protections

There was a lot accomplished during the 89th Texas legislative session. But one local Houston doctor says Texas lawmakers still need to do a lot more to protect medical freedoms. Specifically, Texas hospitals that are still requiring employees to get the Covid vaccine.

"I am still writing exemptions, still" said Dr. Mary Talley Bowden, "There are other states that are doing more at a faster pace, but I have very low expectations for Texas."

Like everything else, she believes it all goes back to the money. The healthcare industry is number one in Texas, and we saw how the industry used it's might to bully Texans during the pandemic.

"What we found during the pandemic was that Texas, we were the first in the country to mandate the Covid shot" Dr. Bowden told KTRH, "This preceded Joe Biden by 5 months."

Medical Freedom protections have occurred in other red states such as Idaho, but here in Texas it is still a problem for many workers and students.

"There's a loophole where hospitals can require them to get these Covid shots" noted Dr. Bowden. Senate Bill 407 would have addressed that loophole, but it died in the Texas House.

"I don't have much faith in Texas in the medical freedom area" Dr. Bowden pointed out, but at least she is trying to get the word out, and she has started an organization: Americans For Health Freedom, which is calling on lawmakers to demand that the Covid shots be pulled from the market.
