As President Trump warned of on Thursday afternoon, Israel has indeed started conducting airstrikes against Iran this evening.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that the strikes targeted Iran's main enrichment facility. He also said in a statement to the people of Iran that their war is not with them, but the "brutal dictatorship that has oppressed you for 46 years."
There are unconfirmed reports that the commander-in-chief of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard was killed in the attacks. Iranian state media reports that two generals were killed int he strikes as well.
Netanyahu added the strikes will continue as long as it takes to remove the threat of Iran having a nuclear weapon.
Meanwhile, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the U.S. was not involved in the plan. President Trump has called a national security meeting at the White House this evening to determine next steps.
Iran has vowed to retaliate.
