As the riots in Los Angeles continue, Mexico is getting called out for being complicit. As usual, it's all about the money.
"A large portion of Mexico's GDP comes from remittances that Mexican nationals send from the United States to Mexico" said John Daniel Davidson, senior editor at The Federalist, "That's a huge portion of the GDP of that country."
But, president Trump has threatened to tax those remittances, hence problem number one.
"If we begin taxing remittances, it's going to significantly effect a major income stream for Mexico" Davidson told KTRH.
It was just last month that Mexico president Claudia Sheinbaum threatened to mobilize protests in the U.S. to push back against Trump's taxes on remittances.
Issue #2 is that Sheinbaum is reportedly backed by the big cartels in Mexico, and they were not happy with the Trump administration breaking up their business in Los Angeles.
"The triggering incident in L.A. was actually an operation against a cartel money operation" noted Davidson, "And the significant role that drug cartels now play in the Mexican regime. Mexico is not our friend. Mexico is acting like a hostile foreign power, and they should be treated like one."
