A curfew is now in effect in downtown Los Angeles, as mass arrests begin to take place. The LAPD said late Tuesday mass arrests were taking place as several groups of protesters continue to gather. The curfew is in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown for the area between the 110, 5 and 10 freeways.
In New York City, police made several arrests at a protest Manhattan Tuesday.
Four Austin police officers were injured during Monday night's anti-ICE protest, including one who was spit on and suffered a shoulder injury while making an arrest. Police officials say all officers have since been treated and released.
Tensions over immigration enforcement escalated Tuesday night as a car drove through a crowd of anti-ICE protesters in downtown Chicago.
President Trump is warning other cities that anti-ICE protests will be met with an "equal or greater force" than Los Angeles. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump also warned he could invoke the Insurrection Act in California. The act allows the deployment of U.S. troops to quell domestic unrest. Trump told reporters," The people that are causing the problem are professional agitators. They're insurrectionists."
