Billionaire Soros Pledges Multi-Millions to Turn Texas Blue

In a move that illustrates the large political importance of Texas to national politics, one of the biggest backers of Democrats and far-left liberals is pledging many millions of dollars to turn the Lone Star State in favor of the Democrat party.

One of the political action committees that billionaire George Soros helps pay for, Texas Majority PAC, today begins a campaign, the "Blue Texas" initiative, in which operatives will work locally to move the state toward more leftist views.

This is in spite of the fact that Soros has already spent many millions in trying push the state to the political left, to little effect.

Democrats haven't won a statewide race in Texas for more than 30 years, so even winning one single race would appear to be a breakthrough to the party.

The new Soros PAC initiative is intended to be run through state and county party affiliates, with continuing attempts to wrest school boards and city councils away from Republican control, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The stated goal of the new Soros plan is to have Texas in play nationally as a "purple" battleground state, where Democrats can count on at least a possibility of winning offices that might influence national politics by the year 2032.

The plan indicates a certain desperation on the part of far-left partisans, who will likely find their routes toward national office if they don't grow their political base in fast-growing states such as Texas, Florida and Arizona.
