Homeland security leaders are blasting elected officials they accuse of harboring illegal aliens and encouraging attacks on immigration enforcement.
The role of local politicians in thwarting Homeland Security came to a head on Friday when a violent crowd of protesters confronted ICE agents trying to detain illegal aliens in Los Angeles.
“They don’t have the backs of our law enforcement officers, and they put them in situations like this,” said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Los Angeles Mayor highlighted the issue when she responded to ICE enforcement in LA by declaring “We will not stand for this,” and declared “I am deeply angered by what has taken place.”
During ICE enforcement, protesters surrounded Homeland Security Agents, even trapping them in a parking garage.
“These protesters were assaulting our officers,” said Noem. “They were attacking federal buildings and perpetuating violence, and these politicians were encouraging it.”
“If you’re aiding and abetting them, you’re a criminal too,” counterterrorism assistant to the President Sebastian Gorka posted on X. “Are you ready to be treated as a criminal?”
