One of the big wins from the 89th Texas legislature, and just before the deadline, lawmakers passed a new bill that will require Texas Sheriffs to work with I.C.E.
Terrell County Sheriff, Thaddeus Cleveland who is also a former border patrol agent, says this is a good thing.
"The Sheriff's will be mandated to co-operate with I.C.E. and sign administrative warrants to illegal immigrants, and then turn them over to I.C.E." he said.
Basically, Senate Bill 8 closes any loopholes, especially in 'blue' cities and counties, and makes sure that current immigration law is being enforced.
"Senate Bill 8 definitely is another tool in the toolbox, and again I think it's a really good thing" Sheriff Cleveland told KTRH, "It's just asking local law enforcement to identify people that are in their custody, that are illegal aliens."
Some Democrats on the left are claiming that SB 8 will lead to the targeting of illegals. But as president Trump has said from Day one, this is about removing the millions of illegal alien criminals that were allowed to pour into our country during the Biden-Harris administration.
The bill is now headed to Governor Greg Abbott's desk, for his signature.
