President Trump Makes Deal With Nippon Steel, Raises Foreign Steel Tariffs

It was a day of winning for President Trump on Friday, as he announced a groundbreaking deal between Japanese and the United States in steel production.

The President rallied in Pittsburgh on Friday evening, announcing a deal that will allow Japan-based Nippon Steel to invest in U.S. Steel. It effectively merges the two major steel producers, while keeping the company's headquarters in Pittsburgh.

He said this deal will set records.

"There has never been a $14 billion investment in the steel industry of the United States of America," Trump said.

That was not all though for President Trump.

He also announced a hike in tariffs on foreign steel imports, upping the tariff from 25-percent to 50-percent.

"It will even further secure the steel industry in the United States, no one will get around that," The President said.
