Long Gone Is Catch And Release, As ICE Begins Arrests At Court Hearings

It is a long road for President Trump in reversing the disastrous border policies of the Biden Administration. But so far, he has gone above and beyond to rectify the invasion of the last four years down south. Border encounters for border patrol have fallen steeply since President Trump took over. At the peak of the Biden administration, CBP reported over 370,000 encounters in one month. Since Trump took office, it has averaged just 29,000 per month.

All of that after Democrats and Biden whined that they could not take executive action, and blamed Congress for not protecting the border. A swift stroke of the pen, and Trump has essentially stopped the influx. It has also gone down thanks to a reversal of some awful policy. The days of catch and release, where CBP would arrest them, give them a court date, and send them on their way, are over.

Immigrations and Custom Enforcement have taken the reins and are now arresting illegal aliens during court hearings. Investigative journalist Jennifer Oliver O'Connell says this is just another legal effort at reversing historically bad choices.

"This is one of the tools the Administration is using to keep his promise to secure the border, and keep the criminal element out of our country," she says.

One of those disaster policies was ending the Remain in Mexico Act that Trump enacted during his first term. That keeps illegals on the other side of the border until their court date for legal entry. Biden reversed that, and that lead to an influx of illegals with court dates five years down the line. Even for earlier dates, most would not show up, and they would run freely into the country.

It is not as if President Trump has not given fair warning or opportunity, either. He has said from day one that you have the option to self-deport, with a chance at legal citizenship down the line. But if they have to come find you, all bets are off the table.

"You can self-deport...otherwise, they are letting them know, you are under full penalty of the law," says Oliver O'Connell. "You are breaking out laws, you are not supposed to be here. If you do not do it yourself, we will do it for you...and not in the nice way."

Of course, the Left hates the idea of any border enforcement. Not only does deporting lose them votes, but for some bizarre reason, they believe we should keep criminal gang members, murderers, and rapists here. They defend it at every turn. Not all are criminals, but they somehow defend the ones who are. It has become baffling.

The arresting during court hearings came to a head recently, as Wisconsin District Judge Hannah Duggan aided the escape of an illegal in her courtroom, which has since led to her federal indictment and suspension from the bench.

All of this is within the rights of the Administration, as well. Democrats might not like it, but it is a refreshing return to the rule of law we have sorely lacked in recent years.

"Trump is saying no more, we are going to follow the laws. The laws give ICE authority to arrest them in a court hearing," Oliver O'Connell says.

The Left will continue screaming that Trump is breaking the law in his efforts, and scream tyranny. But this is well within his rights to do so as Commander-in-Chief. It is a return to law and order, but also a return to America having a backbone, and it could not come soon enough.
