President Trump met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa today in the Oval Office. One of the main topics of discussion was the allegations of genocide being carried out against white South Africans by their government.
Trump has made this a top issue in recent months, even going as far as to welcome dozens of white South African farmers to the U.S. as part of a refugee program.
Retief Goosen, a South African professional golfer who attended the meeting, spoke about the difficulties that white South Africans are facing. He said, "...it's a constant battle with — they're trying to burn the farms down to chase you away."
President Trump also called out Ramaphosa for his government's failure to act against those in South Africa who have openly called for the murder of white farmers.
A video showcasing calls for violence being made by an official in South Africa and featuring hundreds of crosses planted in honor of white farmers who had been murdered was also played in the Oval Office for Ramaphosa.
When asked about what would happen if the issue wasn't resolved, Trump said, "It's got to be resolved... it will be the end of the country if it's not resolved."
