Harris County Commissioners Court will meet again today, and one of the items on the agenda will be Judge Lina Hidalgo's request for a $23,300 trip to Paris. All expenses paid, by taxpayers.
"Do you really need to spend tax dollars after you just asked for a maximum increase allowed under state law from voters for property tax revenue last year" said Charles Blain, president of Urban Reform,
"It's really frustrating because this comes at a time when the biggest conversation happening in Harris County, is our Harris County Sheriff's deputies and Constable deputies demanding more pay."
A pay raise that Judge Lina Hidalgo said no to.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey has already said that he plans to vote no, but the 3 other Democrats are expected to approve it.
"It just juxtaposes the interests and the priorities of our Democrat majority Commissioner's Court, and the actual things that are happening on the ground here in Harris County" Blain told KTRH.
It also comes at a time when Harris County is facing a $129 million dollar budget deficit.
