The deadly explosion at a California fertility clinic may have been an attack over "population."
The F.B.I. is investigating the explosion that devastated the clinic in Palm Springs.
"Make no mistake, this is an intentional act of terrorism. The F.B.I. is investigating it as such," said Akil Davis with the Los Angeles Field office of the F.B.I.
The explosion collapsed the roof on the offices of American Reproductive and left a vast debris field that stretched across a five lane road. Witnesses reported seeing a burned out car outside the building and a body thrown into a nearby street.
Sources close to the investigation told the Associated Press the person believed responsible for the attack died in the blast. The AP reports the suspect had left behind writings saying that the world should not be populated and was apparently trying to make a video or live stream when the explosion happened.
In a post on X, U.S. General Pam Bondi wrote "Federal agents are on the ground now responding alongside local law enforcement. We are working to learn more, but let me be clear: the Trump administration understands that women and mothers are the heartbeat of America. Violence against a fertility clinic is unforgivable."
The clinic was closed for the weekend and operators report none of its staff was hurt and all the embryos in its lab are safe.
