After months of being egg-spensive, egg prices are down dramatically, but a new report on CNN somehow turns that news into an attack on President Trump.
The article, on the CNN website, is titled “Trump’s egg price fiction has suddenly become reality.”
“It’s full of oxymoronic reasoning,” exclaimed Joseph Vasquez with the Media Research Center. “Just utterly ridiculous that CNN even thought that publishing this story would make a lick of sense.”
The article notes that egg prices went down 12.7 percent last month, their biggest decline in 4 decades.
But first, it accuses the president of “falsely claiming that egg prices are tumbling.”
For weeks, Trump has publicly celebrated falling egg prices particularly at the wholesale level, a process which began well before shoppers began to see cheaper eggs at the supermarket.
Vasquez says Trump-hating media have tried to obscure that success. “What the media has been doing up to now has been trying to sour his economic image to the public,” he said. “So he ended up getting it right, and egg prices were coming down but, somehow, he was still wrong. And that’s the line of reasoning that they’re going with. Tell me if that logic makes sense.”
Vasquez blames political bias. “Trump Derangement Syndrome is a heck of a condition, and it seems to have plagued the editors at CNN,” he said.
