President Trump has signed an executive order aimed at slashing prescription drug prices across the U.S. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the move will cut prices by 30% to 80% “almost immediately
Trump says the order will enact a “Most Favored Nation” policy, requiring the U.S. to pay no more than the lowest price paid for the same drug anywhere in the world. He also highlighted new efforts to lower insulin to just a few cents for low-income and uninsured Americans.
"Starting today, the United States will no longer subsidize the healthcare of foreign countries... and we'll no longer tolerate profiteering and price gouging from Big Pharma."
The order also directs Health and Human Services to expand drug import programs and challenge inflated Medicare prices. Trump blamed both Big Pharma and political corruption for high drug costs, claiming prior administrations “failed to do the right thing.”
Trump called the plan “one of the most consequential Executive Orders in our Country’s history.” and said the action would bring “fairness to America.”
