Despite getting it wrong since 2015, mainstream pollsters continue to put out polls showing that Trump is unpopular. The question now is, after years of missing the mark, should the results of these polls even be trusted?
To answer that question, we first have to ask, where are they getting their numbers? Political analyst Vlad Davidiuk explained that, "The left typically, historically, has done polling this way; They poll based on personality, because that's how the left, democrats, and progressives respond."
He said these polls are designed to show that people don’t like Trump’s personality but ignore the fact that Trump’s approval is rising on the issues that matter. He pointed out that, "His approval on crime jumped 15 points since March of 2024. They’re not hyping that aspect of it. They’re hyping the personality because they have an agenda."
Davidiuk said that agenda is twofold. One aspect of it is, these polls make great content for anti-Trump mainstream media outlets. The other is, these negative polls are used to fuel the radical Democrat base.
He explained that, "If they can point to polling data that says, 'president Trump has low approval ratings,' that might motivate their supporters to make donations, to volunteer."
Davidiuk also said that these polls can be used to try to push radical Democrats into the mainstream, because even though they don’t have any popular policies to run on, they can claim that Trump is unpopular and then simply run against him.
