The family of the 10-year old Brenham girl that was swept away by rising water, says she has been found dead.
The family identified the girl as Devah Woods.
Multiple agencies, along with the Brenham Police attempted to rescue the girl, but were unsuccessful.
As reported by our tv partner, KPRC channel 2, she was a student at Brenham Elementary School and was walking home with a sibling when she was caught in the current after already crossing Higgins Branch Creek.
A nearby neighbor witnessed her being swept away and immediately jumped in to help, but the water’s force was too strong.
