Democrats are feigning righteous indignation over President Trump's deportation of criminal illegal aliens, even defending a violent gang member recently sent back to his native El Salvador. The Dems' new buzzword is "due process." They claim they're fighting for due process for illegals who are being deported, regardless of their criminal status. But their embrace of due process seems to inconsistent, at best. Tom Homan, President Trump's border czar, recently told Fox News it's the Democrats who should be forced to answer for their actions.
"Where were you when thousands of American parents buried their children who were killed by illegal aliens? Where were you when there was a 600% increase in sex trafficking under the Biden administration? Where were you when 10.5 million people came through our borders illegally? Where were you when millions were released into the United States in defiance of federal law?" asked Homan.
Homan isn't the only one flipping the script on Democrats. The Federalist writer Eddie Scarry posed three direct questions for Dems: Can you identify any alien you would deport? How many appeals should an alien get to be considered due process? And what would the ideal deportation look like?
Indeed, while Democrat leaders like Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton all once claimed they support deporting criminal illegals, it seems today's Dems don't support deporting anyone.
Homan says Dems are in no position to lecture after allowing the crisis under Biden. "Where were you then? You were silent, which means you're complicit," he told Fox. "You didn't say a word about the violation of laws that put Americans at great risk, so where were you then?"
"When you don't care about your constituents, when you don't care about public safety and national security, you're an embarrassment to the position you hold," he continued. "Where were you the last four years?"
