Governor Greg Abbott has made it official on today, signing the recently passed school choice bill into law.
The Governor was joined by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Chairman Brandon Creighton, Chairman Brad Buckley, Kingdom Life Academy Director Joel Enge, school choice advocate Shinara Morrison, and other state and local officials, school choice advocates, and families from across the state.
Senate Bill 2, authored by Chairman Brandon Creighton and sponsored by Chairman Brad Buckley, creates a universal school choice program that will provide Texas families with the ability to choose the best education path for their child. This program will be the largest day-one school choice launch in the country.
However, it looks like the legal fight over this may just be getting started. Texas Democrats are threatening to sue. You can watch that in the video below.
