Many theorized that former congressman Michael Waltz had been fired by Trump after reports circulated that he would be stepping down as National Security Advisor. Turns out, he's actually receiving a promotion.

President Trump announced today on TruthSocial that he would be nominating Walt to be the United States ambassador to the United Nations. In the statement he said, "From his time in uniform on the battlefield, in congress and, as my National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz has worked hard to put our Nation's Interests first. I know he will do the same in his new role."

This follows the administration coming under fire for including Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic in a sensitive group chat that included several top officials, including Waltz, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and the Vice President.

Waltz had previously taken responsibility for including Goldberg, telling Fox News, "I take full responsibility. I built the group. … It’s embarrassing. We’re going to get to the bottom of it."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reportedly been named the interim National Security Advisor.
