Houston-area doctor Mary Talley Bowden continues to fight with the Texas Medical Board, which targeted her for her posts about vaccine mandates on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic. She recently had another hearing, where some shocking truths came to light.

During the hearing on Monday, the Texas Medical Board (TMB) referred to Bowden’s online posts as "aggravating" in their targeting of her. So what exactly did Dr. Bowden say that was so harmful? Nothing we don’t now know to be true.

According to Dr. Bowden, what got her into all this mess was, "I posted online ‘Vaccine mandates are wrong,’ 25 times. That’s what led to Houston Methodist suspending my privileges and reporting me to the Medical Board."

Dr. Bowden went on to say that this is a clear example of how the Medical Board has begun to ignore its primary responsibility, which is to protect patients. She said, "It’s indicative that this is more about politics than patient health, and it’s just a reflection of what happened during the pandemic."

She thinks that this constitutes a free speech issue, and doctors should be able to share their opinions, specifically on major medical issues like vaccine mandates. She says, "Since the hearing, I’ve found myself second-guessing what I can post online now. It has a chilling effect on speech."
