While the Trump administration has been carrying out mass deportations of criminal illegal aliens, the process of finding and removing the millions let in under the Biden administration and sent all over the country is much more difficult. To that end, the White House has repurposed the Biden administration's CBP One App as a self-deportation app. The app now allows those who came here under Biden to return to their home country, with a chance to possibly come back to the U.S. later under a guest worker program if they have a clean record.
So far, CBP reports more than 5,000 illegal immigrants have self-deported using the app. "They're not stupid, this is a better deal," says Gerri Willis, Fox Business correspondent in a recent discussion on this topic. "Going home, having the government paying your airfare, rater than staying here and possibly having to spend time in jail or be taken away. You also get to take whatever money you made while you've been here...so it's a better deal going home."
There is further evidence of these self-deportations, with media reports citing a growing number of immigrants who are planning or considering plans to leave. Nevertheless, that 5,000 is just a small fraction of the estimated 10-20 million illegals allowed in under the Biden administration through open borders and programs like the CBP One app.
Paul Mauro, former NYPD detective, says this is at least a good start in addressing a massive problem the Trump administration inherited. "This (app) is about the best answer I can see," he tells Fox. "We have to make sure as these people go we get their biometrics so that we really know who they are...because the problem is we have 10-20 million people unvetted, and we don't know who they are, we don't even know if their names are real."
