There's a new bill in the Texas Senate that would prohibit student visa holders from supporting terrorist activities at Texas universities.
It's SB 2233, introduced by state senator (R) Adam Hinojosa.
"It's seeking to enhance the security and integrity of public institutions of higher education" said Cameron Abrams, reporter for The Texan, "Placing greater emphasis on how non-immigrant visa holding students are going to be prohibited from engaging in or supporting, terrorist activities."
Basically, it's making sure that Texas universities don't turn into radical left Ivy League school, where everything goes.
"It's any endorsement or espousing of terrorist activity" Abrams told KTRH, "That can be part of a political or social group that endorses certain terrorist activities."
SB 2233 uses a federal statute to define 'terrorist activity', and students who support any of it would be suspended or even expelled.
The bill already has the public backing and support, of Governor Greg Abott.
