Dan Patrick Supports Texas House Voucher Plan, Bill Set For Final Approval

After the big 'yes' vote earlier this week in the Texas House, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick publicly endorsed the House voucher plan, and called on the Texas Senate to adopt the bill.

“I’ve fought for school choice for my entire legislative career,” Patrick posted on social media, “I am recommending the Senate concur with Senate Bill 2, the largest school choice launch in American history.”

Patrick's recommendation clears the way for its final passage and allows Texas lawmakers to avoid a negotiation process that would require another vote in both chambers. The bottom line is, it clears the bill’s path to Governor Greg Abbott’s desk, with Abbott posting today: “Ready to sign this bill into law."
