Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is always looking to shake things up, and now he looks to take that to Washington.
On Tuesday, Paxton announced he is running for the U.S. Senate in 2026, competing in a Republican primary for the seat currently held by Senator John Cornyn.
In a statement, Paxton said that Cornyn "has turned his back on President Trump's agenda time after time," adding that it is "crystal clear it is time for a change."
Senator Cornyn has held the seat since 2002.
A recent poll by Fabrizio, Lee & Associates found Paxton leading Cornyn by 25 points in such a race.
