In The Wash: Trump Rolls Back Biden Appliance Rules

President Donald Trump has touted the rollout of tariffs on other countries as "Liberation Day" in America. But his second term has also ushered in "Liberation Day" for your washing machine, stove, and dishwasher. Trump has directed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reverse Biden-era green energy rules on home appliances, water flow, and light bulbs. Earlier this year, Trump touted a return to "common sense standards" that were put in place during his first administration but "terminated by Crooked Joe" Biden. Trump also took action to specifically protect gas appliances.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin has wasted no time heeding Trump's direction. Zeldin recently touted a series of 31 deregulatory actions that reversed Biden climate and energy policies, as well as canceling billions in EPA spending on what Zeldin said amounted to a "green energy slush fund."

"We at EPA want to help President Trump to accomplish his mission, his mandate that the American public spoke loud and clear on last November," says Zeldin in a recent Fox Business interview. "These 31 historic actions we undertook is the largest deregulatory announcement ever made in U.S. history."

Zeldin believes rolling back these rules is not only about freedom, but saving Americans' money. "When people start reviewing these individual actions, they'll realize that we're talking about hundreds of millions, billions, and even sometimes into the trillions when looking at the impact of each of these regulations," he says. "We refuse to suffocate the economy."
