Americans still aren't buying into the left's climate change hysteria, despite years of hype by Democrats and legacy media. A new survey finds a majority of Americans (57%) believe energy independence is more important than fighting climate change. In the same survey, 68% said ensuring clean air and water is more important than fighting climate change.
These numbers indicate most Americans believe we can protect the environment and ensure clean and safe resources without all the fearmongering about the planet's changing temperatures (which are always changing and have always changed throughout history.) "It shows the public is paying attention and has their head on right," says David Holt, president of the Consumer Energy Alliance.
Holt tells KTRH the answer to America's energy needs is more sources, not fewer. "Policies that prioritize climate change, or mandates, or restrictions on certain types of energy, have really shown they don't do anything for the environment...all they do is raise prices and make energy less reliable," he says. "So it's gratifying to see that the American public recognizes this."
President Trump has pledged to return America to energy independence as he did during his first term. Trump established an energy dominance council which will seek new ways to ensure the U.S. never has to rely on foreign countries for our energy resources. Holt believes Trump is listening to voters, as evidenced by these latest polls. "This is another signal for politicians of all stripes---Democrat, Independent, Republican---that sensible energy policy that advances economic priorities and ensures reliable energy is the way to go," he says.
