The Texas economy remains strong, and so does the housing market, and it's hardly a surprise that people are still buying houses since so many people have moved to the Lone Star State in the past few years.
Texas A&M University Real Estate Research Center economist Yanling Mayer says it's actually more than 2.1 million people who've migrated to Texas within the past five years, and they've kept the housing markets working steadily.
And it's kept the relative value of homes increasing too.
"If you look at the average home price appreciation, in recent months Texas, on average, our prices are still growing, but very slowly," she says.
Contrast that with other markets across the nation, where home sellers are having to lower their prices in order to make sales.
But despite the reputation Dallas and Austin have had as being tops for sales in the past several years, Houston has now grown into a top market for home sales.
"Houston is seeing one of the largest increases in inventory."
