Poll Rates Trump Favorably at 51%

It may be typical for a new president to start losing popularity for various reasons soon after they take office, but so far President Donald Trump is keeping up his polling numbers.

The latest Rasmussen Poll of likely voters measured his approval rating at 51%, just above last month's 50%.

The rating of his performance has not dropped below 50% in the Rasmussen samplings since he took office two months ago,

By contrast, about 47% of those recently polled disapproved of Mr. Trump's performance.

The poll question was not intended to gauge the public's satisfaction with the president on any one detail, but was intended to be a sampling of their overall satisfaction with his performance.

The survey polled 1,500 likely voters and registered a margin of error of plus/minus 2.5%.

Also by contrast, many Americans seem skeptical of Democrats.

A CNN poll last week indicated only 29% of Americans had a positive view of the party.

And another March poll, this one from NBC News, showed just 27% of those asked has a positive view of Democrats and their party, with only 7% "very positive."

The polls are considered by CNN to be the lowest for the party in 35 years.
