US military airstrikes are underway in the Middle East nation of Yemen, targeting the Houthis, an Iran-back group that's been disrupting commercial maritime traffic in the Red Sea for some time.
The strikes in Yemen, a nation that borders Saudi Arabia, are by order of President Donald Trump, who's calling it a "decisive victory" campaign against the terrorist group.
“The Houthi attack on American vessels will not be tolerated,” Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social on Saturday afternoon.
“We will use overwhelming lethal force until we have achieved our objective.”
The operation includes US jets and warships targeting radar systems, drone stations and launching areas, and air defense silos, according to defense officials.
At least one Houthi leader has been threatening to launch attacks against Israel lately.
