Tariffs Cause Concern, Metal Expert Says

It's starting to seem like a checkers game or maybe a chess game, all the threats of tariffs flying back and forth from nations all around, especially in North America, but there are some simple basics that one expert says we need to watch closely.

And he is watching closely. The CEO of All Metals Fabricating says that as the threat of tariffs increases so do the dangers of price increases based on the simple threat of tariffs.

"Canada and China are the biggest importers of aluminum, so tariffs with and on them would certainly cause rising costs.

"So hopefully they'll be able to work through these things so we can come to a full agreement with Canada particularly and Mexico as well."

The North American trading partners would have the most immediate effect on the US economy, he noted, while tariffs on China and elsewhere might take some time to work their way through the pricing pipeline.

"And in terms of the Chinese tariffs, I'm not too opposed to those. They do impacts the metals markets because a lot of aluminum does come from China," but it comes down to some political concerns in this case.
