The massive illegal immigration problem in the United States has plagued us for decades but has truly gotten out-of-control the last few years under President Biden. Millions have crossed our border illegally, with no enforcement of our laws from the Biden Department of Homeland Security. We have had an open dam flowing unchecked for four years. But, as Donald Trump takes over for a second term in office on this Monday, the dam is about to close.
Incoming border czar Tom Homan has said for months that on day one, he and Trump will implement a mass deportation plan, which was a pillar of Trump's campaign. They will finally go after all these people who have broken our laws and put them back from where they came. Of course, there is sure to be legal challenges, as well as defiance from multiple Democrat-run states. Many do not believe the plan is even possible.
But Jessica Vaughan from the Center for Immigration Studies says Homan means what he says, and it will send a clear message to the world that America is back.
"Americans will be glad to see this...this is what they voted for, and frankly, it cannot come a day too soon," she says.
For reference, under the final months of the Trump Administration, illegal border encounters reported by border patrol were around 70,000 per month. Under President Biden, on average, there have been well over 250,000 per month. That is a staggering breakdown in control of our country.
Trump and Homan have both said that their main focus will be the criminal illegal aliens. Those who have criminal records, are part of gangs, or have recently been released from prison. All of them are set to walk the plank.
But even those who are not violent criminals are not off the table.
"That will include overstayed visas as well...we can expect a broad effort to restore immigration enforcement, and the integrity of our laws...and restore all the parts of the system that have fallen into disrepair," says Vaughan.
For four years, Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have beat the drum that the border is 'safer than ever.' Then, refuse to comment on cases like the murder of Laken Riley, who was killed by an illegal immigrant that entered under their watch. It has been all facade to cover up an administration full of spineless virtue signalers.
Safe to say, when Trump takes over on this January 20th, America will have a spine again. But it is not just Trump or Homan that will be laser focused. The Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Agency will be chomping at the bit to finally do something.
"Those agents will be ready to go and are going to look forward to being allowed to do their jobs, because they know it protects our communities," she says.
The day has arrived where America takes back the border. With any luck, and some time, America just might get back to being a proud nation again.
