Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman and his wife, Giselle Barreto Fetterman, were hospitalized following a car accident in Maryland. The incident occurred on Sunday (June 9) on Interstate 70, where Fetterman's Chevrolet Traverse collided with a Chevrolet Impala.
Fetterman suffered a bruised shoulder in the crash. Both he and his wife were discharged from the hospital on Sunday afternoon. No details were provided regarding any injuries sustained by his wife.
A passenger in Fetterman's vehicle and the driver of the Impala were also taken to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia for medical evaluation.
"On Sunday morning, John and Gisele were involved in a car accident with another driver. Out of an abundance of caution, they were evaluated at a local hospital. John was treated for a bruised shoulder and they were discharged that afternoon. They are doing well and happy to be back in Braddock," a spokesperson for Fetterman's office stated.
The accident occurred around 8 a.m. as both vehicles were traveling west on I-70. An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no citations have been issued as of yet.
