A ten-year-old boy's quick thinkingĀ saved him from being kidnapped.Ā Sammy GreenĀ was walking home from school when a woman started following him.

Sam Green, the boy's father, toldĀ WPVIĀ that theĀ woman claimed she knew his familyĀ and said the young boy was supposed to come with her.

She said she would take him to a nearby Wawa and that he could get anything he wanted.

Sammy didn't trust the woman and walked into a gift shop while she waited outside. He told the cashier the woman was following him and asked her to pretend to be his mother.

The 17-year-old cashier got up from behind the counter, locked the door, and called the police. The woman eventually left.

"I am very proud of her. Hannah is a 17-year-old young lady. She did everything correctly," the shop owner,Ā Dani Small, told the news station.

Surveillance footage captured Sammy and the woman walking down the street outside of the store.

"When I was watching that video, I cried every time I saw it," Sammy's father said.

Police managed to track down the woman andĀ referred her for a mental health evaluation. Police did not provide the woman's identity or say why she was trying to kidnap Sammy.
