The Pentagon is blaming human error for retweeting a call for President Trump's resignation. A tweet from @ProudResister said Trump should leave the White House because of sexual assault allegations against him. The activist also called for the resignations of Democratic Senator Al Franken and Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore.

A Defense Department spokesman said an "authorized operator" accidentally retweeted the comments. “An authorized operator of the @DeptofDefense’s official Twitter site erroneously retweeted content that would not be endorsed by the Department of Defense,” Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White offered via Twitter. “The operator caught this error and immediately deleted it.”

The official Defense Department account has more than 5.2-million followers – and while many Twitter profiles (especially those associated with the government) contain a disclaimer saying that retweets do not constitute an endorsement, the Pentagon account, does not.
