Protesters Harass Ted Cruz And His Wife At D.C. Restaurant

A group of angry protesters confronted Texas Senator Ted Cruz and his wife while they tried to enjoy dinner at Fiola, an Italian restaurant that is down the street from the U.S. Capitol Building. Cruz and his wife were forced to leave after the group started yelling and screaming over Cruz's support of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh

The group behind the harassment, Smash Racism DC, shared two videos of the confrontation to their Twitter page. In the first video, the group approaches Cruz and his wife at their dinner table while chanting "we believe survivors."

A woman off camera can be heard telling Cruz that she would "love to talk to you about Brett Kavanaugh tonight."

"I’m a constituent, love to know what your vote is gonna be tonight. I know that you’re very close friends with Mr. Kavanaugh. Do you believe survivors? Senator, I have a right to know what your position is on Brett Kavanaugh."

“God bless you, ma'am,” Cruz tells her.

“Bless you as well, I really appreciate you. I’m a survivor of sexual assault. I believe all survivors. There are now three people who have come forward and who have said that Brett Kavanaugh has attacked them. I know that you’re close friends with him. Could you talk to him about that? Could you talk to him about his position?” the woman asks.

Cruz and his wife then get up and attempt to leave the restaurant. The second video shows Cruz and his wife fighting through the hostile crowd, which continues to yell insults at the Texas Senator. As Cruz makes his way out, a restaurant employee can be heard asking the group to leave.

Hours after the confrontation, the group doubled down on their protests warning they "will take from you the peace you have taken from so many others," according to the Dallas News

"This is a message to Ted Cruz, Bret Kavanaugh, Donald Trump and the rest of the racist, sexist, transphobic, and homophobic right-wing scum: You are not safe. We will find you. We will expose you. We will take from you the peace you have taken from so many others."
