The man may have survived the jump, but he wrecked his car.
The bridge operator Andre Locke told WDIV-TV, “and I looked, I said, ‘No he ain’t.’” Locke said he hit the emergency stop and the bridge jammed. He says “over he went, blew out all four of his tires, and then he crashed into the other gate.”
The driver, 26-year-old Miguel Gomez was arrested and charged with reckless driving and with two counts of malicious destruction of property.
