Mother Claims Scammers Trying To Profit Off Her Son's Murder

The mother of a teenager who was brutally killed by a group of gang members in New York City earlier in the summer is claiming that people are using her deceased son's name for their own personal gain. Leandra Feliz explained to Pix11 that multiple groups are popping up on social media using the likeness of her son, 15-year-old Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz, and claiming that Leandra and her husband support them, in an attempt to raise money.

Feliz told the news station that she has not set up any foundation or given any group permission to raise money in the name of her son.

“It’s not OK with me. I haven’t done any foundation, not yet. In the future, if I decide to do something, anybody who’s willing to do it has to talk to my lawyer. I have a lawyer in charge of everything.”

Feliz said that she might set up a foundation or charitable organization in the future but that she is "not ready for that right now." Instead, she wants to focus on getting justice for her son, who was killed by members of the Trinitarios gang in a case of mistaken identity. 12 people have been arrested and charged in the senseless murder.

“There’s more responsible,” she said. “More than 12. They still have to catch more people.”
