New Therapy Might Cure Kids Of Peanut Allergies

A new therapy might provide a cure for peanut allergies in children.  Scientists in Australia have developed an immune-based therapy that combines probiotics with small doses of peanuts.  A long-term study of the therapy found that kids who received the treatment showed significantly less allergic reaction to peanuts.  More than 80 % of children who had been allergic to peanuts were able to eat them without reactions for four years.

The study is reported in this week's edition of the journal "Lancet Child & Adolescent Health."
